The Youth Project - Skincare Facial Masks (2018 - ongoing) is a reconciliation of the struggles an Asian woman faces with societal beauty standards. This series consists of two parts: The first part is a Documentary on Skincare Facial Masks featuring masks Zhang has collected since 2021. Each used facial mask, along with its original packaging, serves as a testament to her nightly routine of applying masks for 15 minutes. The second part is The Used Skincare Facial Masks. Collected since 2018, these masks now number about 2,000 and are stacked up. The plan is to transform them into a self-portrait sculpture once the collection reaches to Zhang’s height.
