Chi Zhang (b. 1988, Beijing, China) is a multidisciplinary visual artist, art educator, and art professional living and working between Beijing and New York. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York (2013), and a BA in Studio Art from Stony Brook University (2010). Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she has participated in artist residencies at Pantocrator Gallery (Shanghai, China), NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, New York, USA), SÍM Residency – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (Reykjavik, Iceland), and GlogauAIR’s On-Site Residency Program (Berlin, Germany). In spring 2025, she will join the Studio Kura Artist Residency in Fukuoka, Japan.

Zhang’s practice spans installation, painting, drawing, and the documentation of daily activities, exploring personal narratives shaped by diverse social contexts, including mental well-being, environmental concerns, and societal beauty standards. Rooted in the belief that art holds therapeutic potential, her work invites introspection, fostering a sense of inner peace and connection. In recent years, she has expanded her exploration of healing by gathering moments of stillness and calm from cities around the world, integrating these experiences into her art. Through her practice, she creates spaces for reflection on well-being, encouraging audiences to pause, recharge, and find balance in an increasingly complex world.

In addition to art practice, Zhang has engaged in various art-related fields, independent art projects, etc. She is also an art educator with experience teaching students of all ages in a variety of studio, classroom, and museum settings, including programs for adults, young art professionals, and college and high school students.
