Zhang has long recognized the therapeutic qualities of art and firmly believes in its ability to bring balance and healing into people's lives. In her latest project, Healing Park, she extends the therapeutic essence of her practice by creating an installation composed of six painted scrolls. These scrolls reflect the healing experiences she discovered in six locations across New York City. As someone who lives and works in this bustling metropolis, Zhang finds that New York City also offers some of the quiet healing spots, where the combination of trees, flowers, and water creates tranquil environments that momentarily connect her with nature and help her find peace. She incorporates these calming and restorative feelings into her work, acknowledging these elements as essential for mental and emotional well-being. Together, these scrolls form a temporary sanctuary where audiences can discover moments of peace and comfort. Zhang aims for her work to resonate with diverse audiences, especially those navigating hectic lives or experiencing emotional and mental distress during uncertain times, providing them with an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and find serenity.
